Out on the Deck! You've read about our deck ... this is where we took our portable telly to watch the Melbourne Cup this week ... instead of wrestling with the sweaty masses at a flash do. The white roof you can see in the right background should make all the blokes envious ... that's my husband's shed. Every Aussie man must have A Shed -- it's a rule, writ in stone. Prawns for lunch!
The view towards Moreton Bay is from the other end of the deck, and we can see the sand hills of Moreton Island across the Bay. There's a resort on the island called Tangalooma, and one of the attractions there is dolphin feeding. But we think we're pretty lucky because we often see the dolphins come in close to the shore to feed during our early morning walks. They seem to prefer those lovely still, silver mornings when the water is calm and there's a light cloud cover. It really is a great way to start the day when the water is all pearly, the sun's just coming up and there's a family of dolphins sharing the morning with you. I've been meaning to take my camera with me so I can take some photos of them ... Next time! I'll let you know when I do ... And here (below) are my glamorous helpers ... No matter when we walk out onto the deck, our butcher birds aren't far behind! It's lovely to work up there with a little voice singing away behind me. They seem to enjoy the company as much as we do and will often sit quietly for 30 minutes or more before the Call of the Wild claims them.
