Kombucha Tea

Origins

Kombucha tea was known in the Tsin Dynasty in 221 BC, where it was called Godly Tsche and was used:

  • to promote long life

  • as a remedy for chronic gastritis

In 414 AD, a Korean medicine man called Kom-bu gave the Japanese Emperor the tea to successfully heal his disorders.

Kombucha arrived in Japan, from China, via Korea and was known as Tsche of Kombu (Kombu-cha).

Europeans learnt of Kombucha when it came via Mongolia and Russia.

In the 1960's, alternative life-style groups rediscovered the benefits of Kombucha and its popularity as a method of promoting good health has steadily grown since then.
