Home, Sweet Home

We share our home with a number of passing visitors of the furred and feathered variety ... They're all little Aussies and love living here as much as we do. Spend a few minutes taking a flying visit around some of our favourite spots and getting to know us!

Click on the thumbnails to see a larger photo and then hit the Back button to return to this page.

To restore the resulting image to its original size, just click in the lower right-hand corner of the photo. You'll see a button with arrows on each corner. Click this and the bigger photo appears as if by magic!

bats.jpg (148819 bytes) Usually, our Aussie bats only come at night, these three liked it so much they stayed for over a week!
butcher birds window.jpg (121485 bytes) Two of our Australian butcher birds at the kitchen window ... the little brown one is the baby, the other its teenage sibling! Mum and Dad obviously had other things to do and left this one to babysit.
mum and baby.jpg (27037 bytes) Mum's arrived to resume her maternal duties ... that means they look cute so I'll feed them!
lunch.jpg (65687 bytes) OK ... this isn't for them, but is where we spend a great deal of time throughout the year.
officeassistantssml.jpg (59202 bytes) My glamorous office assistants who like nothing better than to sit and chat quietly when I'm working on the deck.
SV300007.JPG (197931 bytes) Young magpie ... now what mother wouldn't want to protect a face as sweet as this?
joh1.jpg (39876 bytes) This is Joh, the sulphur-crested cockatoo, he doesn't live with us ... but on a pineapple plantation at Yeltukka, about three hours' drive north of Brisbane ...
yeltukkaview.jpg (40719 bytes) This is the view from Yeltukka!
caloundraboat2.jpg (32866 bytes) While I'm showing you some of the places close to home, I may as well keep going ... this is the start of the Pumicestone Passage between Bribie Island and the mainland, at Caloundra.
bris river ferry.jpg (97095 bytes) This is a different waterway, showing one of our little cross-river ferries on the Brisbane River in the city.
citycat1.jpg (66040 bytes) And one of the river CityCats -- catamarans that whizz up and down the river giving locals and visitors a great overview of the city ...
rest.jpg (100039 bytes) One of the resting spots along the River Walk that goes from the city to new Farm. That's the Story Bridge, and in the mid-right you can see the floating walkway the City Council built a few years back so everyone can enjoy the waterfront, not just those lucky enough to live on it.

If you'd like to know more about the Land Down Under, maybe so you can visit us soon or perhaps even come and stay longer and work for a while, click the button now!

phillip is.jpg (24554 bytes) It's not all sunshine and blue skies and soft water ... Well, it is sunshine and blue skies, but Phillip Island (on the Victorian coast) can get a bit wild at times. These seagulls were having fun trying to fly level with us.
Rippon.jpg (148795 bytes) While we're in Victoria, this is the view up the drive of Rippon Lea, an historic house built in 1868 and set amidst beautiful gardens.
surf race.jpg (40839 bytes) Back home again, and a surf carnival held at the bottom of our street at Suttons beach.
surf boats.jpg (63998 bytes) Not many waves for the boats here because we're protected by all the islands you can see in the background ... but lots of fun nevertheless.
There's that button again to find out more about coming over for an extended visit!
