Catapostrophes A trade paper has just sent me an advertisement for its annual guide to careers and training, hoping that I will advertise. The first sentence reads, "The XXX Guide to Careers and Training is now in its' fourth year"Would you advertise in a journal whose staff have demonstrated such ineptitude? And one which is, to boot, promoting training! (Richard English)
Here's another one from Richard English: "This is part of an advertisement for a business travel management company. Since the word "its" is spelt correctly on one occasion, we must assume that either the writer genuinely doesn't know the difference or their quality control is terrible."

On the website of a Motorcycle Club (along with
information that the 2001 pioneer run has been cancelled but with no
information about the 2002 event happening on 17 March). Is this another
example of "chuck a few apostrophes at it and see where they stick"?
The Club has published a
book of it's history, since its inception in 1924 and this covers all aspects
which made our Club so important to the whole motorcycling scene.
Here are a couple of non-apostrophe items ... Uh-oh!
And the alternative is ...?
