Do You Need an Email Attitude Adjustment?

by Gail Hornback

Think back.  Probably WAY back.  Can you even remember when
you FIRST discovered and signed up for your first email account?
Remember how exciting it was?  You probably checked your mail
10 times a day.  The anticipation of receiving those first emails
was exciting.  It was like Christmas!

Now, back to today.  Email.  Tons and tons of email.  Double tons
of junk mail.   Mail. Mail. More mail.  Do you dread opening your
email box?

Well, if you own an Ebusiness, then you'd better get used to it.
In fact, you may just need a little attitude adjustment when
it comes to email, if you are dedicated to your Ebusiness
success!

Email is the LIFE BLOOD of an Ebusiness.  It is also
the barometer of just how your Ebusiness is doing.   The
more you get your Ebusiness in the eyes of the Internet Public,
the larger your load of email will grow, proportionately.  And
that includes both good mail AND bad mail.

The way that you handle your mail will directly affect the
ongoing growth of your business.  The greater your success, the
more personal correspondence you will receive from your
site visitors/customers.  Some will be seeking your advice.
Many will have questions about your products and services.
And more than you like, will have "suggestions" for how you
are doing business, if you get my drift.

When dealing with all this email, keep these points in mind:

1.  Always remember - Email is a Blessing!  It is a GOOD thing.
Repeat that to yourself over, and over and over!!

2.  ANSWER it!

Trust me, you will get to the point of wanting to pick and
choose which emails to answer.  Some people will write you with
some of the most ridiculous questions and comments,
and you will be tempted to delete and forget it .  Don't do it.  If it
is a legitimate email, find a way to answer it.  Use the
opportunity to show your professionalism.  Even when
you've been flamed in the worst way, don't give in to the
temptation to flame them back.  Email makes
flaming easy.  But don't YOU do it.  Rise above it, and treat them
with respect.  It is still one more chance to present yourself and
your Ebusiness to someone.  "A Quiet Answer Turns Away Wrath",
and may also win someone over to become a loyal customer
when they see your integrity, and character.

3.  YOU ARE a PROFESSIONAL!  Don't forget it!!

ALWAYS answer email in a professional manner, which
includes addressing the person you are writing.  Use their name,
if possible.  If not, at least say use some kind of salutation, just
like you were taught in English Class.  "Hello" or "Hi' with no name
attached, is still better than just jumping into what you are saying.
Then, SIGN it!   Use a friendly closing, and your name.

4.  Include Your Credentials.

Don't just sign your name.  Always include your website URL,
if you have one, and a short promotional "sig file" at the end of
your email.   A Sig File is a short 3-4 line "ad", if you will, that
tells something about your business.   We change ours regularly
as we add new  products.

5.  Make Friends with Your Delete Button.

All of us get tired of unwanted, unsolicited email.  The
amount  of spam we get grows daily.  So much that it is nearly
impossible to report it all and try to deal with it.  And forget
those unsubscribe instructions that come with all of it.  Don't
waste your time.  Most of those just validate your email
address!  The easiest way to deal with all the junk mail is to
hit your delete button.  Most junk mail is easily recognized by
noticing who it came from, and the subject line. You don't even
have to open it. One or two may fool you once in a while. But its
not worth getting all worked up over, and raising your blood
pressure. The delete button is such an easy way to take care
of it. Just don't forget to dump your deleted mail file regularly!

6.  Add a Message Board.

Adding a Message Board, or Forum to your site is a good idea
no matter what.  But it can also help to lessen some of your
email.   Especially if you get a lot of help and advice questions.
There are some really good Message Board setups out there.
A lot of them offer a "free" option.  Of course the free option
will impose advertising on your board.  We recommend the
following two boards.  Both offer free options.  And if you are
ready to invest a little money, both of their "Pro" options
are very affordable and, at some time will be worth having, to
get rid of the ads.

Taking your email seriously, and treating it as the important
part of Ebusiness that it is, will be a valuable part of your
Ebusiness success!

Happy Emailing!

27 Year-Old Maryland Man Reveals His Proven System For Creating Instant Internet Profits From a Simple 2 Page Web Site…Even If You Hate Computers ===>  http://www.instantinternetprofits.com/?159

A business man got on an elevator in a tall building. When he entered
the elevator, there was a woamn already inside and she greeted him by
saying, "T-G-I-F."

He smiled at her and replied, "S-H-I-T."

She looked at him, puzzled, and said, "T-G-I-F" again.

He acknowledged her remark again by answering, "S-H-I-T."

The woman was trying to be friendly, so she smiled her biggest smile
and said as sweetly as possibly, "T-G-I-F" another time.

The man smiled back to her and once again replied with a quizzical
statement, "S-H-I-T."

The woman finally decided to explain things, and this time she said,
"T-G-I-F. It means Thank Goodness It's Friday. Get it, duuhhh?"

The man answered, "S-H-I-T . . . Sorry, Honey, It's Thursday."
