Advertising Tips
................................ 6 April 2001
This week
Who Are You Going to Call? Net Auctions!
Quick Tip
~ * ~
Greetings,
Can you believe we're into April
already? I was just getting the hang of writing 2000 and now 2001's whooshing
away too. If you've been meaning to do something about setting up an online
business, then now would be a good time to start ... before we're into 2002!
And, if you still haven't found your
"Goldilocks" business (you know, not too hot, not too cold ... but
ju-u-ust right) then this week's feature article could have the answer. It's a
business that has desperate buyers eager to buy ... you don't need mega-capital
to get started and you can be in operation in just five minutes.
Intrigued?
Read on ...
Regards,
Jennifer
P.S. If you'd like a few tips on how to write a
business letter, I've just put up a short article that covers a few important
points: http://www.write101.com/businessletter.htm But
if you can't spare the time to write your own, try this: http://www.write101.com/letters/sales.htm

Who Are You Going to Call? Net Auctions!
With the cost of living in a perpetual upswing, are you looking for a great
way to make some extra dollars without jeopardizing your nest egg?
Would you like the personal fulfilment of running and owning your own profitable
e-biz, without having to sacrifice any precious family time?
What’s the answer?
Net Auctions!
It's no co-incidence that e-bay and the other big auction sites are among the
most visited sites on the Web - people love a bargain and they go to auction
sites to buy those hard-to-find items, so why not capitalise on this trend?
Just what are the major benefits of this e-biz compared to others?
1. Fun
Wouldn't you love a business that was both invigorating and profitable? It’s
important to enjoy what you do because, "People who don't enjoy what they
are doing usually don't have the stamina to stick it out." (Sydney
Johnston)
Like the crossroads marketplace of long ago, the Net auction world is a
colourful place where you find all classes of people, a multitude of languages
and goods of every kind for sale. This is e-commerce sparkling with the energy
of social interaction.
Net auctions bring people together… people in many different life roles…
who are looking to buy things they really need, from whomever has those
goods (and services) to sell.
2. Easy
This business meets the three, key prerequisites for success on the Web:
But, it does it easily. It takes much more work to build a site that sells
and drive targeted traffic to that site, than it does to place a three-line ad
on eBay.
3. Dirt Cheap
What are your start-up costs?
Provided you own a computer, and a great little book we’ll look at later,
they'll amount to little more than a $3.00 (and a bit) listing fee. As for
inventory? Start off with those items cluttering up your garage, then work your
way up.
4. Targeted customers arrive at your doorstep
No need to fumble with <META> tags, or master the toilsome business of
Search Engine Optimisation. Your visitors are already there – and they’re
looking for you.
5. Fast start-up
You can literally be selling in minutes. Of course, you can muddle your way
through and that's fun, too. Or, you can save time and effort by following the
clear-cut instructions and tips in that book I mentioned earlier :)
6. No programming skills required
Zero, zip, nyet, nada, none. All you need is a computer, an Internet
connection, a trunk full of items, an account with the auction site and up goes
the "open-for-business" sign.
7. No competition from big retailers
No worrying about some multi-million dollar conglomerate coming along and
blowing you out of the water. Everyone's on an equal footing here.
8. Flexible
Choose your own hours, full-time, part-time, or anytime. YOU decide.
10. Anybody can participate
Minimal requirements are the aforementioned computer and Internet connection.
Other than that anybody, anywhere, can join in the fun.
11. Satisfaction
Starting your own Net Auction business is about more than simply making
money. It's about matching people up with those hard-to-find items. People don't
use Net auctions to buy things they see at the mall. They use them to find
unique items at bargain prices. And when you provide such an item, you've got
more than a customer...
You've got a friend!
12. The thrill of the hunt
Imagine the excitement of finding a neat little niche product that you can
"buy low" and "sell high." The ongoing development of your
Net auction business is critical for success. Learn how to source goods -
through manufacturer close-outs, customs auctions, etc. There are hundreds of
amazing tricks to be learnt.
This is the perfect business for those people who have a passion to share or...
need a low-cost, low-risk entry into e-commerce or... want to incorporate
"good old-fashioned fun" into an extremely profitable venture or...
who yearn for all of the above.
Does this sound like the perfect business or what? If you want to try your
hand at selling at auctions then this little book has all the information you
need to get started: http://mynas.sitesell.com/write101.html
It even shows you how to find your own sources of goods that you resell for
profit at the Auctions, without spending a penny of your own money...
Then, to drive hordes of "itching-to-buy" targeted traffic to your
Auction site, use the power of Site Build It! to really expand your business.
Site Build It! enables you to build a Theme-Based Content Site that attracts
targeted traffic, people who are interested in your auctions, or whatever other
related products you want to sell.
Build your own following. Now you're in business! http://buildit.sitesell.com/write101.html
Once you get your feet wet with Net auctions, continue to explore the infinite
possibilities for e-profit. Why not use the single best resource for selling on
the Net to actually sell your own products? http://myss.sitesell.com/write101.html
There are limitless opportunities on the Web, it's just a matter of keeping
your eyes open and then acting when you see something that appeals to you.
Who'd work in Tech Support?
Customer "My computer
crashed!"
Tech Support "It
crashed?"
Customer "Yeah, it won't let me
play my game."
Tech Support "All right, hit
Control-Alt-Delete to reboot."
Customer "No, it didn't
crash-it crashed."
Tech Support "Huh?"
Customer "I crashed my game.
That's what I said before. I crashed my spaceship and now it doesn't
work."
Tech Support "Click on 'File,'
then 'New Game.'"
Customer [pause] "Wow! How'd
you learn how to do that?"
Chuckle ...
Quick Tip
The
Craziest Internet Business Idea in History
by Mark Joyner
So, you've got a great Internet business idea. Yeah, I'm talking
to you. You know who you are. You have this great idea that
you love to brag about. You tell all of your friends how it's
going to make you a millionaire.
And to you, oh great generator of ideas, I say:
So what!
I know (literally) hundreds of people that come up with million
dollar ideas on a daily basis. I can count on my hands, however,
the number of those people that have actually achieved a
respectable level of success with those ideas.
What about you? Are you sitting there feeling good about
yourself with that great idea of yours or are you actually doing
something about it?
Now, before you answer that question, be honest with yourself
about what you want. Some people, it seems, are satisfied just
having people pat them on the back for having such a great idea.
What about you? Is the pat on the back enough? If so, stop
reading right now. I'm just going to waste your time if that is the
case.
However, if you're one of the elite few that genuinely has what
it takes to turn that idea into money, read on.
--- Point of No Return Starts Here ---
Still with me?
OK, then. Let's get started.
1. Pick one idea
Decide right now that you want to turn this idea into money and
try not to get bogged down in other ideas.
You're going to come up with hundreds of other ideas before
you see this one to completion. Resist the temptation to treat all
of them equally. You will be tempted to pursue every single idea
you have. This is the kiss of death. You need to narrow your
focus. That's the key to success.
2. Stop rationalizing
Somewhere along the way you're going to say to yourself: "This
idea isn't working because it's not the best idea. I should have
picked another."
Rubbish! This is the lazy part of your mind trying to give you an
excuse for quitting.
Don't quit. You don't know that the "other idea" is better. You
*can't* know this.
Drive on.
3. It's the marketing, stupid
You should spend more of your time marketing than on any
other task. In the course of running your business, it's easy to
get caught up in a million idiotic things.
For example: "Which color paint do you think would look best
in the ladies room? Pink or mauve?"
Who cares! Make little decisions quickly, or pass them to
someone else.
If you are not spending 90% of your working day on marketing,
something is wrong.
Fix it!
Now, you can say to yourself: "Of course he's right -- I don't
need Mark Joyner to tell me all these things" and then forget
everything I've said.
Or...
Or, you can get started right now. I think you know which path
leads to wealth and success. The question is, do you really want
it?
