How to Keep Your Visitors Interested by Jennifer Stewart

Quick Tip

~ * ~

Greetings,

This week, let's look at an easy way to make your site "sticky" - in fact, this is so-o-o easy, I'm almost embarrassed to mention it. But then, most of the best things in life are often the simplest, aren't they?

Philip Humbert also offers four quick tips to help you successfully set your goals. After all, you're never going to get anywhere if you don't know where you're going, so think of Philip's article as a "mud-map" for your future.

Regards,

Jennifer

Business Owners!

Here's a way to save some of your precious time.

One of the most time-consuming tasks is preparing sales material to send to customers, clients and prospects. If you'd like spend your time developing your business, instead of chewing the end of your pen or tearing your hair, here's the answer - instant sales letters. Just add water ... well, no, not quite. But all you have to do is add your business details to the templates and then send them off to your target market. How easy is that?

How to Keep Your Visitors Interested

by Jennifer Stewart www.write101.com

We’re always being told about the importance of making our sites "sticky," and everyone agrees it’s a great idea. The difficult part is trying to find ways to achieve this desirable state of affairs.

It sounds almost too simplistic to say that in order to keep people interested, you first have to know what interests them. There are four basic areas that interest every human being and these are: sex, family, wealth and humour – not necessarily in that order.

The adult sites have the sex side tied up, there are nearly as many genealogy and parenting sites as there are sex sites, and you don’t need me to tell you that the Internet abounds with sites that exist to help you increase your wealth. But that still leaves us with one other area of immense interest.

Every site benefits from a little humour, and in this day and age, it doesn’t pay to take yourself too seriously, so think of how you can incorporate some fun into your site. Many sites will send you a joke-of-the-day and will give you permission to post this on your site if you include a link to them.

The drawback is that you have to constantly update your site. One way around this is to sign up for a service that automatically updates the material (similar to the news services). However, visitors may be so taken with the idea, that they’ll click off your page to sign up for the service themselves and never return.

The solution?

Provide your own material. We all seem to receive countless pieces of humour with our email, so why not set up a page where you showcase your favourites? Choose material that suits your site’s subject matter, acknowledge the sources and away you go.

Write101 is a site that focuses on writing, so it’s natural that any humour on the site will relate to writing, education, learning etc. If you’re having a bad day, there’s nothing like a chuckle to boost your spirits and help you put things into perspective. Recently, I received a photo that still sends me into guffaws – and I’ve looked at it dozens of times. If you need a bit of a laugh, this should do it: http://www.write101.com/W.Tips116.htm

If you prefer something more substantial, how about the History of the World? You’re guaranteed to discover something new and wonderful here! http://www.write101.com/hist.htm Planning on writing that great novel that lurks inside us all? Get some tips on writing a best-seller here: http://www.write101.com/best.htm

Take a look at your site, consider what you find funny and keep your visitors happy by offering them the gift of laughter.

Quick Tip

The 4 Steps to Successful Goal-Setting

by Philip Humbert

Successful people have always had clear, focused goals
that guide them to greatness.

It took Thomas Edison thousands of attempts and thousands
of  failures over many years to invent the electric light bulb,
but he new exactly what he wanted, and his goal kept him
going until he achieved it  The rest, as they say, is history.

Michelle Kwan had a goal to be the best skater in the world.
Oprah Winfrey was an abused child who determined to make
a better life for herself.

Successful people always have clear goals.  Great
musicians, great athletes, successful salespeople and
inspiring leaders know what they want in life, and they
go after it.  Great parents work at it.  No one becomes
an astronaut by accident!

And yet the great bulk of people continue to drift
through life with no goals at all, or with only vague dreams,
hopes and wishes.  No wonder we achieve so much
less than we could!

For those who have not yet experienced the joy of
setting and achieving magnificent goals, here is a
powerful set of principles that have worked for thousands
of my clients.  They will work for you, too.  I call them
The 4 Steps to Successful Goal-Setting:

1.  Decide what you want.  Decide if you would rather
have money in the bank, or that new car.  Choose the
life you prefer!  You can't have everything in life; but
you can have anything you choose, if you will focus,
pay the price, and pursue it with all your heart.

2.   Clarify your values.  Too often, people choose
goals that are inconsistent with their priorities and
daily behaviors.  Do you value health, or comfort?  Is
financial independence a priority, or merely a wish?
In a clash between your values and your wishes, your
values will win every time.  Be certain your goals are
consistent with your most important values.

3.  Write them down!
Have the courage to put your
intentions on paper, in your own words.  Be specific
and describe your goals in detail.  When will you
achieve them?  What will success look like?  Write down
the details and read your goals every day, even take a
moment to summarize them every morning.  Stay focused.

4.  Take ACTION!  To run a marathon, you must jog every
day.  Building a business requires that you make sales,
every day.  A loving marriage or happy kids require
your time, your attention and your love, every day.
Your daily actions need not be profound or heroic, but
they must be consistent and persistent.  Every day!

Success does not "just happen".  It is built like a
work of art.  First, it is imagined, then the skills,
tools and materials are gathered, and the artist sets
about creating a thing of beauty.  It takes time.  It
requires skill, determination, persistence and faith.

Just as an artist will make preliminary sketches and
work out the details in her mind, so your success
requires written goals, careful choices, clear
commitments and daily persistence.  You can do this.
Make something magnificent of your life!
