The Path Of Least Resistance Is
Often the Path To Profits by Shawn M. Casey, J.D.
Quick Tip
Greetings,
Shawn Cassidy's article is one of
those "common sense" pieces that makes you wonder why you didn't think
of it yourself! Read this and then take a look at your own business. And I urge
you to take a couple of minutes to read and then really consider Deborah Brown's
article in the Quick Tip section.
I'm sure you, like me, have been
doing a great deal of thinking since September 11. It takes a disaster like this
to make you stop and take stock of your life and your priorities - Deborah's
article will help you do this.
Kind regards,
Jennifer

The Path of
Least Resistance Is Often the Path to Profits
by Shawn M. Casey, J.D.
You can approach the creation of your own business from 2
different angles.
You can decide what you want to sell and try to force that
product on the marketplace. Or, you can find out what people
want to buy and provide it for them. This is often the easier
path to a profitable business.
We’ve all fallen in love with a great product we’ve created or
found somewhere. We just know this is the greatest thing since
sliced bread. But, just because you’re in love with bobbin’ head
dragon dolls doesn’t mean that anyone else will want to buy one.
If you’ve got enough money, time and marketing expertise, you
might be able to create a demand for the dolls, but this is
undoubtedly a very hard way to go about creating a business.
If you’re trying to decide on a focus for your business, or
you’re looking to expand your business, then I suggest you spend
some time researching the marketplace. Take a look at what types
of products and services are already being sold in large
amounts.
For example, if you examined the classified ad section of a
major magazine each week for several weeks and noticed certain
ads were running every week, you can safely guess that these ads
are working. Otherwise, the advertiser would not continue to pay
for the ads.
You’ll probably find that lots of the advertisers focus in
similar markets. Areas like "how to make money," "lose weight
fast," and "how to get out of debt" are topics of timeless
appeal. People are always going to want to know those things.
These areas then become obvious places to focus on for your
business. Yes, you’ll find lots of competition. But, you’ll find
lots of opportunity as well because the marketplace is huge for
most of these areas
By the way, I know many of you like to compete. That’s the
nature of many entrepreneurs. When it comes to marketing,
we’re allowed to get an edge by "cheating." We don’t have to
do things the hard way.
We can take the path of least resistance and sell things that
people want to buy.

Some things to ponder:
The things that come to those that
wait may be the things left by those who got there first.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit
in a boat drinking beer all day.
Flashlight: A case for holding dead batteries.
On the other hand, you have different fingers.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help
section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
Quick Tip
I'LL
BE HAPPY TOMORROW...
by
Deborah Brown
Are you living your life to the fullest? Are you
happy with who, what, or where you are today?
Are you doing what you love?
Most of us are searching for something, or sometime
in the future when we will finally be happy. But we
know from last week's attack that there are no
guarantees there will be a tomorrow. Life is
precious and we must appreciate each day.
Before the attack, what brought many of us happiness
were material things. Now we are seeing that family,
friends, and being our true selves is what life is
all about. Before the attack, we may have known that
we wanted to be happy, but we put ourselves on hold
because there were responsibilities, bills to pay,
and we knew we could work on being happy tomorrow.
Now, we have learned that we may only have today.
So, How Can You Be Happy Today? Follow These Easy
Steps:
1. Accept That You Deserve To Be Happy:
Being happy today is accepting that you deserve to be
happy. If you do not think that this is true, then no
wonder you are not. The messages you tell yourself
determine which direction your life will take. Tell
yourself that is ok to be happy, and that you will
strive for happiness each day.
2. Accept Who You Are:
Being happy today is accepting who you are, the good,
the bad and the ugly. It is knowing that you are
doing the best you can do, and being content with
that. I am not saying to ignore what you would like
to improve in your life, but if you only see what is
missing, you lose out on loving what is great about
you.
3. Be Comfortable Where You Are:
Being happy today means being comfortable where you
are in the present, not where you would like to be in
the future. It is about being in awe for the
opportunity to learn something new each day. You do
not know what your life will bring tomorrow, so enjoy
where you are today.
4. Appreciate Your Life:
Being happy today means being grateful for your life.
Whether it is being grateful for having your health,
a job, a place to live, food everyday, or a family
that loves you. If you knew that you were going to
die in 90 days, would you do things differently?
Guess what? You are going to die one day, and you
do not know if you even have 90 days. Gratitude,
not blame will bring you happiness and freedom.
5. Ask For Help:
Being happy today means not keeping your problems
to yourself. It also means that you ask for support
when you need it, and let others contribute to your
life. Most of us do not ask for help because we do
not want to burden the people around us. But, if
someone asked you for assistance, wouldn't you lend
a helping hand? Then why would you not let others do
the same for you?
6. Do Something Nice For Someone Else:
Being happy today is doing something nice for someone
else. This could be as simple as holding the door for
the person behind you, or as big as volunteering your
time to your favorite charity. Your problems become
smaller when you are not always thinking about them.
When you take the focus off yourself, it is easier
to see how great your life really is.
7. Do Something That Will Move You Forward:
Being happy today is taking steps that will move
you forward. Movement keeps you from feeling like
a victim. When you are unhappy, formulating a plan
puts you in a different place and helps change your
perspective. It also put the power back in your
hands!
How much more of your life do you want to live
waiting for someday to have the happiness you crave?
It is up to you to create your own happiness. So,
what is it going to take for you to be happy today?
